An Action of Self Control

An Action of Self Control

It happens oftentimes we let our tongues get the best of us.  Especially when someone may say something that we think is derogatory and directed at us.  Without thinking we sometimes say something that we tend to regret later on after the fact.
It is these times when we loose our self composure.
It is like being burned sometimes when someone says something and we react in a negative way.   Without thinking we start using epithets to them instantaneously.  What that means to me is that technically we are not listening to the other person.  When the they direct insults towards us, we should stop and think before reacting.  Always ask yourself what are they trying to say, what is it that they are trying to get across to me.  How are they saying it.  Some people can say things that are down right ugly, but you can tell by their tone of voice that they are joking.  But other times it may come out angrily and directed right at us.  At these times we should look for the meaning behind the words not focus too much on the words.  Especially if they are saying you make me angry or something like that.  Fact is I cannot make anyone angry.  Only you can make yourself angry.  Look at their body language, are they visibly upset, crying, yelling, or are they acting confused?  There are reasons for all of us to loose our tempers and let our tongues get the better of us.  But usually when some one says you make me....... whatever, they are really saying I don't agree with you, or I don't want to hear what you are saying because I have already made up my mind how I feel about whatever.  So you should not take whatever they are saying to heart.  Use your mind, analyze the situation before reacting to someone.
