Who Did It!
Mom was getting ready to go to work at 5:30 in the morning on Monday like she always did every Monday when she noticed that all of the perfume in every bottle was empty. This confused her seeing as how she just bought Paradise her favorite brand just last week.
Once mom was ready for work she went into the kitchen, it was here that she discovered that the peanut butter was out spoon still in it and crackers were scattered all over the counter.
Mom just quickly cleaned the mess up and headed out the door toward the car when she heard whimpering and howling going on from the direction of the trunk of her car.
Well mom went a little closer and cocked her head to one side and stood listening. Sure enough some kind of animal was in the trunk of her car. She knew almost immediately that it was Taz the family dog that was stuck in the trunk of the car.
How he got in there Mom did not rightly know but the thing to do now was to let the poor fellow out of the trunk of the car.
Oh but when mom unlocked the trunk of the car the smell that came from Taz could just knock you off your feet. He smelled like a perfume factory.
It was then and there that it dawned on Mom that whomever had gotten into her perfume had also poured it all over poor Taz.
Mom did not want to wake up Dad and the rest of the family and try to get down to the bottom of this right at the moment. Besides that she was now running late for work. So off to work she went.
Joseph got up earlier than Jasmine and Joseph went straight to the video games in the living room to start playing. This was the only time that Joseph got to play the video games, that is;when Jasmine was asleep. The video games belonged to Jasmine. Joseph knew that he was sneaking around playing the games but he did not care because he loved to play the games.
Joseph heard a noise sometime later and he immediately turned the game off but it was too late Jasmine had come around the corner just in time to catch him turning the game off.
You just wait Joseph when Mom gets home I am going to tell on you.
Joseph thought about it a minute and then he said, "well I guess if you do that I will have to tell mom about the perfume that you put on Taz yesterday!"
This infuriated Jasmine she knew she was in for trouble now so she said "If you don't tell about the perfume I will let you play all day on the video games.
That made Joseph happy and he played on the game all day long.
When mom finally arrived home from work Dad had supper on the table and everyone sat down to eat.
Mom said,"Funny thing happened this morning. A burglar broke in the house and stole all of my perfume, ate peanut butter and crackers, then stole poor ole Taz and locked him up in the trunk of my car.
Dad went white as a sheet. What do you mean someone locked Taz up in the trunk of the car? Did you find him there this morning? Was he alright?
Mom said that Taz was fine except he smelled so strong from perfume that she could hardly stand it.
Mom and Dad both looked first at Jasmine and then back at Joseph and said in unison. Does anybody know anything about this?
Well you know kids Jasmine squirmed and Joseph put his head down.
Mom and dad did not know what to think they both looked guilty.
Finally Jasmine spoke up and said Joseph did it. You know he never did like poor ole Taz. Joseph shot back well it was you who poured that perfume all over Taz trying to make him smell good. Jasmine piped up Well it was you Joseph who ate all of the peanut butter and you were playing on my video games also.
Mom and dad were taken aback they did not know what to think. The kids were pointing fingers at each other and blaming one another. It really was getting out of control. Finally dad said well that will be the end of that. No more games for you Jasmine and that goes for you too Joseph. Joseph you will not only feed poor Taz every day from now on you will also report to me everyday upon doing it.
After the kids both got into trouble dad said something strange. He told both of the kids that they had both did things that they were not supposed to do, but they should not try to blame someone else for things just in hopes of getting out of trouble themselves.
Mom told Jasmine to tell Joseph that she was sorry for telling on him and trying to make him look bad. After Jasmine told Joseph that she was sorry Joseph smiled and said," I am sorry also for blaming you."
After supper the kids ran up to there rooms and mom and dad sat there looking at each other smiling and dad said,"There is never a dull moment around here with them two."
